SITUATING OURSELVES

Guayaquil is the place I plan to teach English, it is situated in the Coastal region close to the Pacific ocean in the South of America. After I finish I will be sharing my knowledge and the new information that I have been receiving in this TESOL course.

In ECUADOR, education in public school, secondary school and universities are changing ; that is why ecuadorian goverment is making an effort to support English teachers given scholarships in order to improve the levels of learning English as a foreing language. Also the current President wants to students obtain    an International Bachillerato.

Besides that , my  country is consider a beautiful paradise, with many touristic attraction in the different regions, which are Coast, Highland, Amazon and Galapagos Ilands. People from diferent parts of the worlds visit these places. It is another favorable point to have better skills, in the use of the English language.

In the other side , there are classrooms with forty or fifty students per class in public schools. Many pupils come from disfuntional families, poor ones or some of them belong to gangs and they don't want to study.

As a future public teacher, I will need to know how to motivate students in order to increase their attention to the class.Respecting their individualities and their thoughts.

Empathy is important to make them confident with  every day topics. But , the most important thing, I think is to be prepared , daily to each different class, applying new pedagogical tecniques and methods.

Nowadays, it is necessary to create a good environment before starting classes, in order to take the students' attention;  then they are ready to receive commands and follow instructions to do their best in class.
