LEARNING TO LEARN

I am not a multilingual teacher; I am a bilingual teacher, who teaches English as a second language.  I have had the chance of working as a teacher for 3 years in different Schools with different students. I also have a degree as a Biologist which has let me the opportunity to apply my scientific knowledge, teaching Science which is related to my field.

Teaching a language that is not my mother tongue is a great responsibility, because in my country it is almost impossible to practice speaking as a skill. Sometimes, English teachers have doubts about Grammar, because there are not good opportunities to develop listening, speaking or reading skills. So, I have to invest in a permanent training if I want to be a good English teacher.

As an English Teacher I have received many benefits, like: academic and economic recognition. This scholarship is one of them, a great chance of getting a better teacher and the perfect opportunity to be part of the public teachers’ staff.

Learning the right use of English Grammar, improve my pronunciation, speak fluently and write correctly, is what I consider the most important aspects an English teacher like me needs to achieve.

In a classroom, the forty minutes an English teacher has to make the students understand and practice, one of the topics of the English Educational Program, are not correctly used, because of the lack of knowledge about the elaboration of a Lesson Plan.

To learn how to design a Lesson Plan and to fulfill the educational objective is my goal. I believe that teachers have to dominate this competence, in order to have good results with the students. I hope to learn all the strategies to be an Excellent English teacher in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

I am sure that this Professional Program (TESOL) that I am taking in this prestigious University will help me to succeed as an English teacher.
