First of all, I started learning English eight years ago as a result of a bad experience at work. the thing is that I was hired to teach personal defence in a gym for three years, at the first time only nationals joined the classes but later on foreigners started to come, that is why I began to attend English courses.
As I was learning English, nice things happened to me, for instance: I made new friends, I felt more confident when teaching at the gym , I got excellent jobs, I got myself into the fact of the acquisition of a new language to communicate with English speakers.
the challenges for me had been : to practice what I have learned in my every day life, to study new vocabulary words and finally not to be afraid of speaking, even though a might be able to make mistakes.
Now, talking about the benefits, learning English has given me greater opportunities to succeed professionally speaking. I could name one, I was hired to teach cadets personal defense in English at the police school as a result of learning English.
Now about speaking about my own use of the English language , my desire is to improve it, and when I say to improve it, I mean, to increase my ability of using it more frequently.
I also would like to improve the vocabulary so that I can understand better what other people say.
I think the biggest problem non native English speakers have , is to be in a non English speaking environment, if we were encouraged to use the language as much as possible we wouldn't be having problems at the moment of communicating.
on the other hand I would like to use the language in a natural way and openly with my students, I also would like to learn how to teach Spanish native speakers English, so that they could feel more comfortable when it comes to use the language.
I'd just like to learn more practical techniques to teach in a better way because in Ecuador there isn't really a good English teaching learning process, the education is all about memorization and planning, I mean most teachers focus on only accuracy and I am looking forward to change that situation.
